Winter - Seasonal food trends

Hello Winter! It’s the time of year to snuggle around the fire in your pyjamas drinking hot chocolate, enjoying festive celebrations and gathering with friends and family. What you are eating should reflect this cheerful season.

At Buffets by Design we are always making sure that the food we create emulates the season. We make sure to incorporate as much seasonal food into our menus as we can. Here we can share with you our knowledge and hopefully give you inspiration in your cooking and party planning over the next few months!

Below is a list of our winter favourites:

  • Bramley apples
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Cabbage
  • Celeriac
  • Cranberries
  • Duck
  • Dates
  • Goose
  • Leek
  • Sweet Potato
  • Salsify
  • Turnip
  • Pork

This is to name just a few. Visit BBC Good Food for more of the best fruit, veg, meat and fish to serve this winter.

A wintery starter has got to be a hearty soup. Easy to make and enjoyed by all to escape the cold outside. Why not try a leek and potato soup with herby bread on the side. Or spice the soup up with some ginger or chilli.

Be sure to visit our hot fork buffet menu for warm and inviting dishes for your winter party or dinner. Our vegetable goulash made with the best seasonal veggies is a must this winter, ideal for vegetarians and vegans to whom you might be hosting. Or what about our delicious meat options such as a pork and cider casserole.

To finish off the evening bring out a dessert for your guests using seasonal fruit such as an apple and cranberry tart. Or healthy fresh fruit salad with all of the seasons tasty offerings for a simple yet effective end to the meal – check out our cold fork menu for other ideas.
